RED Ribbon Week October 22-25

This week is sponsored by the National Family Partnership for communities to unite and take a stand against substance abuse.  Help make Red Ribbon Week a success by reminding your students to dress for themed days to show their school spirit and commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.

Tuesday      “Put a cap on drugs” - Hat Day
Wednesday  “Stay in the game” – Wear your favorite team or athletic apparel
Thursday     “Sock it to drugs” – Wear silly socks

KTE Truancy Awareness Day

Wednesday, October 17th is Truancy Awareness Day at Kernan Trail Elementary.  Please have your student at school before the first bell at 8:25am wearing an orange shirt to participate in a school wide photo.  Thank you!

Gift Basket Donations

PTA is currently collecting donations for themed gift baskets that will be raffled off at our annual Fall Festival on November 3rd.  Each grade level has their own basket theme.  Please consider sending in donations with your child to their classroom or drop off donations in the front office.  Thank you in advance for your participation!  These are the themes for each grade level.  Donations will be collected from Oct. 5-26th!
  • Pre-K and Kindergarten – “Quiet Time” -Books, books on tape, building materials such as Legos, blocks, etc writing/drawing materials, puzzles, board games, cards, computer games, CDs, gift certificates to book, music and toy stores
  • First Grade – “Imagination” -Puppets, dress-up, magic kits, music, science kits such as volcano kits, etc., magnifying glass, books on space and science, trucks/vehicles, gift certificates to music and toy stores
  • Second Grade – “Gardening and Nature” -Children’s gardening gloves, Children’s gardening tools, Children’s wheelbarrows, Bulbs for children, Flower and vegetable seeds, watering cans and buckets, rain boots, paint the pot kits, bug catchers, nature books, gift certificates to nurseries or gardening stores
  • Third Grade – “Arts and Crafts”- Paints, crayons and markers, construction paper, glue, beads, do-it-yourself crafts, play-dough/modeling clay, jewelry making kits, model airplanes/cars, gift certificates to Plaster Play and other craft stores
  • Fourth Grade – “Summer Fun” -Beach toys such as sand buckets, frisbees, beach balls, beach chairs, sun block, goggles, water toys such as blow-up rafts, snorkeling equipment, slip-n-slide, etc., 4th of July items, outdoor games, gift certificates to ice cream stores and toy stores 
  • Fifth Grade – “Sports and Games”- Balls such as soccer, football, etc., jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, baseball equipment, hockey and skating equipment, outdoor games, tickets to sporting events, gift certificates to sporting good stores

KTE Fall Festival is Saturday, November 3rd from 2-5pm!

The date is set for our annual fall festival so please mark your calendars and plan on joining us for food, fun, hayrides, games, bounce houses and the dunking booth!

Your Student's Class Could Win an Ice Cream Party!

Ø  BoxTops- Be on the lookout for Box Tops on many products that you buy in the grocery and office supply stores. 
Ø  Campbell’s “Labels for Education”- These can be found on many products including soup, Goldfish crackers, breads, Pop Secret popcorn, Prego sauce, Danimals yogurt products and more.
Ø  Tyson Project A+ Labels- The entire strip of the package needs to be cut out, not just the A+ graphic.

Points earned by collecting labels and BoxTops are redeemed for classroom and resource items.  Please turn these items in by October 19th.
