PTA of the Year

Kernan Trail Elementary PTA has received the Duval County Large School PTA of The Year Award at the Annual PTA President and Principal’s Luncheon held on Tuesday, May 24th. Our PTA also received 1st Place for our History Book that showcased pictures of all of the PTA sponsored events.


It is worth noting that last year we received recognition in only five areas. This year we received a total of 10 awards and 1 Helping Hands Recognition.

PTA Board Elections for 2011-2012

PTA board elections for the 2011-2012 school year will be held at the General PTA Meeting on Thursday, May 19th at 7:00pm.. Please consider being on the board and helping to make Kernan Trail Elementary the best school it can be for our students, teachers, and parents. Elected board positions are as follows:

President
1st VP of Volunteers,
2nd VP of Fundraising
3rd VP of Membership
Treasurer
Secretary

Committees include:
Yearbook, Fall Festival Chair, Reflections Chair, Historian, Newsletter Coordinator, and Sunshine Math Coordinator.

Kernan Trail Extravanganza and Talent Show

The PTA is excited to announce our First Annual Talent Show at KTE to be held on June 3rd at 6:00pm.  All students interested in participating in the talent show must audition on Saturday, May 21st and submit an entry form to the school office by Friday, May 13th.  Entry forms are available on the school website or at the following link: Entry Form

Extravaganza Volunteers

Dear Volunteers,


We have a great event coming up and we need some extra help! This year, KTE's Family Night on Friday, June 3 is going to be the Kernan Talent Extravaganza featuring our own students in a Talent Show. We will also have dinner and a silent auction as we have in years past. As we are getting so close to the day of the event, there is much to do and we will need many hands the night of the event. I am PLEADING for some help in the following areas. Please contact me if you can help.

- Someone handy to create a backstage curtain at the left of the stage
- Someone to create/set up some basic decor on the stage
- Ticket Takers the night of the event
- A couple people on food to make sure things are running smoothly, help with clean up, etc (the meal will be catered)
- Someone to assist with auction items and bids the night of the event

Thank you so much, please let me know if you can help! We are expecting this to be a HUGE event because of the student participation!

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 9th-May 13th is Teacher Appreciation Week at Kernan Trail Elementary.  Please let our teachers know how much we "Appreciate" all they do for our students.  You could send a note, a small gift, a little treat, or a flower...just something to let them know that we think the teachers at Kernan Trail are AWESOME!

"Family Feast Night"

All PTA members showing PTA cards when purchasing tickets will receive 1/2 price tickets at $5.25 in the Special Reserved Section.  Child tickets (ages 4-14) are $2.50.

Gates open at 6:00pm and game time is at 7:05pm

Family Feast Night is also on May 10th which means hot dogs, peanuts, and ice cream are 50 cents each.

Annual Field/Play This Week

Coach Mulryan is still in need of some volunteers to help with this week's Field Days.
